Which VPN Works in Pakistan in 2026? What to Try & How to Connect
In Pakistan, a VPN may connect on home Wi-Fi but fail on mobile data, take a long time to connect, or stop working after previously being usable. The reviewed reports include both working connections and failures across networks; some users also cannot reach the VPN website or sign in.
Start with Windscribe or Proton VPN; Stealth appears in successful local reports. NordVPN is another candidate to test on your own connection. Reports include a September 2026 connection on Zong, earlier success with Stealth and use of UDP on Telenor. Some users needed to change servers or wait longer for a connection.

Positive reports extend through September 2026; a June account specifically describes Stealth working on Jazz. Other users report failed connections or being unable to sign in.

With an active subscription, sign in to the official app and use its automatic connection. If you need a particular country, choose it in the server list.

September 2026 reports describe working connections. An earlier account covers both home and mobile internet, while another user could connect at work but not on Transworld at home. No consistently successful setting emerged.
Mullvad VPN

Add paid time to your Mullvad account, open the official app and connect. If the connection fails, try its anti-censorship settings; the official guide shows the options for your device.

Positive reports include September 2026, but give little detail about operators or settings. There is no corroborated local configuration to follow.
Surfshark

Already subscribed? Sign in to the official Surfshark app and try its automatic connection. If it fails, try another server. The local reports below do not establish a particular setting that fixes connection failures.

What to Do If Your VPN Doesn’t Work
You cannot download the app or sign in
The VPN website or sign-in service may be blocked. Try another listed VPN, or temporarily switch from home internet to mobile data to download the app or sign in. This may get you past the access problem, but you will still need to test the VPN on your usual network.
The app opens, but the VPN will not connect
Select the mode described for your VPN above. Disconnect, apply the setting and reconnect. If it still fails, try another server with the same mode; there is no need to cycle through dozens.
The VPN says it is connected, but websites do not open
If no websites open, disconnect the VPN and check whether internet access returns. If it does, the VPN connection is not carrying traffic correctly; blocking is one possible cause. Try the recommended settings and another server.
If only one site fails, try another server or country. The site itself may restrict VPN addresses or content by location.
If these steps do not help, try the next VPN on the list. If the available services also fail, the section below explains how to set up your own server.
Before buying a long subscription
If a VPN has a free plan or trial, first check that it opens the sites you need on your network. A subscription with a money-back guarantee is another way to try it: pay, test the VPN and request a refund within the allowed period if it does not suit you. Before paying, check the refund conditions and whether they cover your chosen purchase method.
Even if everything works today, the situation may change in a week or six months. Start with a short subscription. Your own server may also need changes to its settings or IP address over time.
How is VPN access restricted in Pakistan?
The reports point to restrictions that differ by network, rather than one nationwide rule for every VPN.
Access can fail before the VPN connects
Blocked VPN websites or sign-in services can prevent setup before a connection is established. This is a separate problem from filtering the VPN connection itself.
Traffic filtering and connection protocols
Success with masked modes after ordinary connections fail is consistent with protocol filtering. Deep packet inspection (DPI) recognises traffic patterns without reading the encrypted contents, but the exact operator rules are not established here.
Mobile and fixed networks behave differently
Both working and failed mobile connections appear in the reports. They do not support a blanket claim that mobile VPNs or all UDP connections are blocked. Congestion and routing faults can cause similar symptoms.
How to set up your own VPN
With your own VPN, you rent a server and connect your devices through it. Our guide uses Xray with VLESS + REALITY to make the connection resemble ordinary encrypted web traffic. You get a separate server address, although that address can still be blocked.
You will need a paid virtual server (VPS) and a connection app such as Hiddify. The guide walks you through remote access to the server (SSH), installation and connecting your device. You will also be responsible for server fees, updates, backups and traffic limits. Check that you can install the app before renting a server.
A first-hand report from Pakistan describes Xray with REALITY in May 2026. It is older evidence; our installer tests do not confirm current access through Jazz, Zong or other Pakistani networks.
What these recommendations are based on
Based on public reports, not our own connection tests in this country. Results depend on the network and settings.
We reviewed public reports in English, Urdu and Roman Urdu from the six months ending 11 October 2026. We included failures and checked that repeated posts were not counted as independent experiences. Most usable reports came from English and Roman Urdu community discussions.
We did not test these VPN services from Pakistan. Reports often omit the operator or settings, and publication dates may differ from connection dates. Older evidence is identified in the service summaries.
