Speed tests

Results of tests on the home page are displayed in your browser and are not stored in our database. We do not request your device's precise location or create our own persistent identifier to link your tests together.

To run a test, your browser exchanges data with measurement servers. During this connection, the server receives your IP address and technical HTTP request information.

Technical logs

Servers keep request and error logs to operate the site, diagnose faults and protect against abuse. These logs may contain your IP address, the time of access, the requested page address and technical browser information. Logs are automatically deleted after a retention period of 7 days.

IP address information

On the My IP page, we use ipapi.is to identify the provider, approximate location and network characteristics. The only visitor data included in this request is the IP address being checked. Speed test results and precise device coordinates are not sent.

We cache the IP address and retrieved information for 7 days from the time we receive a response from ipapi.is. This avoids calling the external service on every repeat request. The record is automatically deleted when this period ends. On a later visit, the information may be requested again and temporarily cached for another 7 days.

Visitor statistics and cookies

We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit the site, which pages they open and how they interact with the service. This information helps us improve the site.

Google Analytics may use cookies and collect information about visits, interactions, browsers and devices. Google's processing of this data is described in its privacy policy. Retention periods for analytics data and cookies differ from the 7-day retention period for our IP cache and technical logs.

You can restrict or delete cookies in your browser settings.

Backups

We create data backups to recover from technical failures. Each backup is kept for no more than 7 days after creation and is then deleted. Information already deleted from the main database may therefore remain in backups for up to 7 additional days.

Policy changes

We update this page when our data processing practices change. The last updated date is shown when a new version is published.
